If Windows XP is behaving oddly, or you cannot boot the system or log in, the issues may be resolved by performing a repair installation.
Unfortunately, a repair installation can only be carried out if you have a Windows XP installation CD.

Traveling with Dell Inspiron 600M laptop w/o WinXP Pro installation CD. Running WinXP Pro SP3 virtually inoperable as very, very slow response to mouse clicks.
Ran SFC /scannow; chkdsk /p/r/f/x; registry cleaner; HD cleaner; all to no avail.
TIA HELP!!!

help. I rebooted my laptop with a original win xp home prog. I then updated it via internet, after which, the CD drive malfunctioned--it cannot read any CD at all (device manager says its working properly). upon query, experts said the program has glitches which does not support my laptops media access, and that i have to clean up the drive. I did online and everything became inaccessible--can't reboot fr CD drive, lost fonts etc, cant create an internet access, system restore didnt work. please help.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but KP won't boot. I tried safe mode, but it gets stuck while installing the drivers then restarts the computer. I don't have an install disk either because my laptop didn't come with one.

I re-installed win xp leaving original file for programs unchanged. Now they are not recognized. The files are in the hard drive. How can I get the original programs and drivers back? The reason for the win xp re-install was due to a hal.dll corrupted file.
